File Uploads & Storage

Lesson 9 of 10 10 minIncluded with Builder

Let users add photos and files to your app the right way, using storage buckets, URLs, and the guardrails that keep it safe.

What you'll learn

  • Let users add photos and files to your app the right way, using storage buckets, URLs, and the guardrails that keep it safe.
  • How file uploads & storage fits into the Web & App Development track
  • A hands-on project step you can put in your portfolio

The hands-on project

Add a file upload feature to your app. Requirements: (1) create a Supabase storage bucket and let a logged-in user upload an image, (2) enforce a size limit and restrict to image file types, (3) save the returned file URL into a column on that user's database row (not the file itself), (4) display the uploaded image somewhere in your app by reading the URL back. In your submission, state clearly whether your bucket is public or private and give a one-sentence justification for that choice. Submit a screenshot of the uploaded image showing in your app, plus the AI prompt you used to build it.
