What you'll learn

  • Give your automations a memory with Sheets, Airtable, and databases — then clean up the data so it flows without breaking.
  • How working with data: sheets, databases & formatting fits into the Automation & Workflows track
  • A hands-on project step you can put in your portfolio

The hands-on project

Build a points or attendance tracker using a Google Sheet or Airtable base with at least the columns Name, Email, and Points (or Check-ins). Then build an automation that runs the lookup-then-update pattern: given an email, it searches your sheet for a matching row. If the row exists, it adds to that person's existing total and writes the new total back to the same row. If no row exists, it creates a new one. Include at least one formatting step, for example forcing the name to title case or making sure the points value is a real number before you do the math. In your submission, paste a screenshot of the sheet before and after two runs for the same person, proving their total updated instead of creating a duplicate row.
